In order to get a good nights sleep it is important to have what is known as good sleep hygiene. This is a series of behaviours which contribute to the overall restfulness and quality of a nights sleep. By improving sleep hygiene it is possible to improve the quality and quantity achieved.
Fox CBD is not an alternative to a good sleep hygiene routine, it is a supplement to your routine i.e. it works in addition to the other measures already adopted.
Such measures may include the following:-
- A nice relaxing routine which is conducive to winding down including activities such as a warm but not hot bath, stretching, meditation, reading a book and taking a warm milky drink.
- All light and noise should be blocked out as much as possible as darkness is a signal to the body for sleep therefore blackout curtains and earplugs can be a big help as is covering up any charger or cord lights with masking tape.
- The use of electronic devices should be kept to a minimum due to the blue light which is emitted from them. This blue light wavelength is the mimic of sunlight and it fools the body into thinking that it is daylight hours thus keeping the individual awake.
- Another important environmental factor is temperature, it is really important to get this right as it being too hot to sleep can be as unbearable as being too cold. The optimum temperature for sleep is between 16-18ºC
- A regular routine of waking up and falling asleep at the same time each days an important part of good sleep hygiene practice and doing this each day strengthens the body’s own circadian rhythm.
- Keeping active during the day also helps to improve the quality of sleep however vigorous exercise too close to bedtime can have the opposite effect.
- Consumption of any stimulants such as caffeine should be limited and ideally stopped during early afternoon. Other substances such as chocolate and alcohol should be stopped 4hrs prior to bed time.
- If you have the sort of mind which tends to be quite busy, especially at night time then it is a good idea to create a ‘to do’ list of all the things which are on your mind or cluttering up your thoughts. This will help to clear your mind as everything has essentially been moved out of the brain and on to the paper ready for dealing with directly when necessary.
Once all of these are in place forming a good sleep hygiene pattern then Fox CBD oil can also be added in to help the body to relax and prepare for sleep.
